More about Louise F. Sheehy
Louise F. Sheehy was honored as Amnesty International's 2006 Human Rights Activist of the Year. She is a native of Boston where she attended Boston University. She earned her B. A. in humanities and English from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
Sheehy has more than 25 years’ experience developing start-up projects for the nonprofit, corporate and faith communities. Her focus is on building community among diverse populations.
In February 2003, Louise produced a major conference for women titled “PeaceBuilding: Where are the Voices of Women?” under the auspices of a women’s educational organization called The MATRIX, which she co-founded in 1997.
Sheehy’s career highlights includes producing and directing programs and special events at Walt Disney World and the Disney Institute and serving as director of program development and marketing at Canterbury (Episcopal) Retreat and Conference Center in Oviedo, Florida. She is the author of I Haven't Talked About This Before, a personal memoir published in 2000, and has written numerous published editorials and essays.
In addition to the Multifaith Education Project, Sheehy is a leader with The MATRIX, the Millionth Circle and Court Watch. She was married to Frank Sheehy, who died in July 2008. They have three adult children and six grandchildren.
